About the Project

Natural Machines and CurifyLabs have partnered to develop a unique Medicine-as-a-Service concept for pharmacy compounding, to bring an affordable and superior 3D printing platform to market. This technology aims to produce personalised medicines for both human and veterinary patients, on-site in pharmacies and hospitals.

Project Responsibilities

My role was to design a mobile application that will enable lab technicians to operate the 3D printer using their mobile devices. The app will be first used by lab technicians at Curify for piloting and, later on, by pharmacists at drug stores.

Solution Summary

The pilot app is a service for CurifyLabs' lab technicians. Its purpose is to accurately measure the weight of printed pills, achieving precision up to 0.01mg within the target range of 1.8mg - 2.2mg. The app provides real-time deviation notifications and allows users to pause the print process if necessary. Once printing is complete, the data is converted into Excel/PDF format for storage in a database.

  1. Mobile Application: Real time feedback and control the setting during the print
  2. Weight Scale: To be placed inside Foodini for weighing the pills and has high definition sensors upto 0.01mg
  3. Foodini: 3D Printer personalised medicine

User Flow Guide for the Lab Technicians

For the beta testing, the devices were delivered to CurifyLabs in Finland with the guide on how to operate the action. With software complications and budget restrictions, the service had UX compromises, but the results of the print were accurate.
